I wasn't that enthusiastic to start this book, not because I didn't absolutely love book #1 but because I've been incredibly disappointed by most of the sequels I've read recently and expected the same from this. I'm so happy to report that I think this book was BETTER than book #1!!!I was 100% "Team Thomas" in book #1 and so upset with Emily for her final decision at the end of the book. By about 1/3 of the way through this book I was completely "Team Gabriel" but by the end of the book I was torn. I want her to choose both of them!
As with "The Hidden" this book was written in alternating POV's of Emily and Gabriel with a few by Thomas thrown in at the end. Gabriel's story is told and he becomes a much more likeable and sympathetic character fairly quickly. A lot more is explained about the Feeders and Healers as well as what Emily is. Like book #1, the chemistry between Emily and Gabriel is amazingly hot and their bedroom scenes are off-the-charts sizzling!
There was a lot more suspense in this book than in the first. By about 90% I had to stop reading and give myself a break because it was making my stomach hurt! I would read a few pages, stop for awhile, then read some more. I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to take it and would have to quit before finishing the book!
Of course this book ended on a huge cliffhanger and I don't see any mention of book #3 on Amazon. I don't think I can take waiting to find out what happens to Emily, Thomas and Gabriel!!!

I am very partial to paranormal writings. In fact this is the second series (first series I read was the phenomenal "Mad World" series by Christine Zolendz) of this genre that I found very much to my liking. Books I and II are page-turners but I like "Fallen" much better. I love the writing. It has a flow to it that keeps you glued to it and makes you oblivious to any distractions. The characters are truly lovable. I loved Emily and Thomas but after reading "Fallen", I think Emily and Gabriel are great for each other. They just fit. This series will not be easily forgotten and I cannot wait to read Book 3. Hopefully, K.R. Martin will soon come out of this pestering writer's block and be able to work on it.
So I read the first book and I was swooned. It took me just two days to finish the two books.. and I can't wait for the third!!!!
IN THIS BOOK you're to se the struggle between Emily in becoming matured ... and what she has to sacrifice in order not to hurt those she loves.
Gabrielle's story lines were actually funny .. they showed how he struggled between his outer and inner feelings.. He finds himself changing in. Way that terrifies him in a good way.
Thomas will get hurt over and over !!!
As for Emily , everything is turning upside down for her .. she struggles to find a middle ground in her situation.. she hurts .. she gets hurt .. she loves ..and gets loved. Will she ever know what or who is best for her ??
You've to read to find out !!
I assure you you'll smile and laugh at Gabrielle's thoughts as seeing. Bad boy going soft after about 450 years of living !!!
I purchased this book the second I saw it was released. If you liked book one then you will love this one because you get the characters you already live, but much more evolved. If you were on the fences about book one, I still recommend this because the setting and tone of this one is quite different. I finished the book in 2 days. I loved it. I must have screamed out loud at least 20 times, but that comes with the territory. In this book we see how flawed the heroine Emily is after "maturing" in book one. The hero Thomas is still every bit as wonderful and swoon worthy, but quickly things take a turn for the worse. And then we have Gabriel. Ohhhhh Gabriel where do I even begin. I thought I had him all figured out in book one, but boy was I wrong. I love a reformed badboy. And if you do too then you NEED to read this book! I can't wait for the next one.
I think my favorite thing about this series is that the love that blooms among the character feel so tangible. It gradually builds in a way that is INCREDIBLY convincing. Most books are like 'boom' instead head over heels love. In this the instant attraction, instant pull is there but the love blooms slowly. I love it. Love it. Not only is it incredibly well written but it makes you feel like your witnessing something deeply personal and real. I implore everyone to read these books. I CANNOT wait for the third book. HURRY UP!
Spoilers I adore this series. My heart broke for Thomas but was happy for Gabriel. You love both men, just as Emily does. The thing is, although I truly think she loves both men, I still think she loves Thomas more. I think Gabriel love's Emily just as much as Thomas does, but I think Emily's heart will always belong to Thomas just a bit more. The reason she's choosing Gabriel is because her very nature doesn't get along with Thomas. It's heartbreaking really. I find it hard to believe that Thomas is really going to give up on Emily... at least, I hope he won't. I dunno. I want them both to be happy. I just don't see how Thomas and Emily really CAN be together when she's always hungering for him. She's right-- her and Gabriel make more sense.
