I started off this book thinking it was pretty good but soon noticed I was picking it up every chance I had. I even got in trouble at work because I would wait till the last minute to put it down then take an ass chewing from my boss. Very few books have affected me this way. The characters were flawed just like they should be, believable and I could identify with them....saying all that it's better than pretty good, it's awesome. It was also interesting hearing what was going on in the author's life as she wrote each chapter or part.Tags : DEAD IN BED By Bailey Simms: The Complete First Book - Kindle edition by Adrian Birch. DEAD IN BED By Bailey Simms The Complete First Book eBook Adrian Birch Reviews
I enjoyed reading about the author Bailey's personal journey almost as much as Ashleys! I'm rooting for you to find happiness with Kyle! It's better to have loved and lived, than to live longer, yet not experience life. The book was also a really great read. A real different take on zombies. This young girl has a great imagination and can write. I look forward to reading everything she writes. Have to do all I can to support her and Kyle's California road trip!
Really great concept, great story! Different, which made it that much more enjoyable! There are a couple handfuls of grammatical/typographical errors, but not enough to make a huge difference, and not distracting at all from the tale. While I suspected certain things, nothing too dramatic led me there. (I don't want to throw in spoilers, so I'm speaking very cryptically here.) Anyway, this is well worth the read, and I'm already looking diligently into the future for the next part of the series!!!
I chose a 4 because some stuff was really obvious and I felt the author did a poor job of keeping those things hidden. It's not an all out raunch fest which is good, but it could be a little sexier in some places. Over all the story pulls off well and I liked the "authors comments" as they allowed me to shift between two stories simultaneously. Never read a format like this and I have to say I like it a lot. I am eager to see why happens in the sequel, but I probably won't purchase it till it goes on sale (that may be an indication for some as to how good it is).
I really liked this zombie story. I got pulled in from the start and was curious to find out what the heck caused the virus. I also looked forward to reading about the author's story having to keep her writing from her father. Is this part true or made up to keep the reader's interested? Because for someone with no "experience" the author has a vivid imagination! Keep writing! I want more!!
I just finished reading after not being able to put this book down! It is absolutely unique and not just for zombie enthusiasts. The characters are totally relatable, especially our heroine Ashley. She is a normal small-town girl who faces a daunting situation and chooses to kick a## in spite of crazy low odds for success. This story is told in first person, which I usually detest, but this prodigy of an author pulls it off brilliantly! I can hardly wait to find out what happens next!
I look for good stories to savor and enjoy, like Dead in Bed. The story feels fresh with a fast pace and strong character development. I couldn't put it down. The author built up the horror and suspense while deepening our appreciation of the heroine.
Are Ashley's decisions all well thought out? No. Did the young woman panic at times? Yes. Was the decision making believable. Yep. Was the horror frightening? Hell yes.
Not your typical end of the world story. Buy it.
I enjoyed Dead in Bed. The concept of a sick girl writing a story to pass the time and posting it on her blog is a bit different. The story she writes is kind of horror mixed with comedy mixed with sex novel. It reads easy and it's a fast read. Sadly, I don't think this is the entire book, just 7 chapters. There seems to be an 8th chapter not included and methinks there will be more chapters to come, since this has been a serial. I don't know that I liked it enough to read more.
