"As for fame, you need to manage it and you need to surround yourself with people who don't get caught up in the hype of it all."As sports romances go, I guess you could say it's like one of many. But to think this is the first one in a series and the author's debut novel, I'm impressed. I am definitely looking forward to more books from this author and excited for the next book in this series.
Don't you just love sports romances? As a fan of a lot of sports, the thought of a star player falling in love with a fan like yourself would give you that sort of Cinderella story most of us crave for.
However in this case, the heroine didn't know him at all. For the star quarterback who mostly carries the team on his shoulders, for him to meet a woman who is oblivious to his bank account and his fame is a novelty for him. And the whole story mostly revolves around this novelty, their careers, and both their obstinate natures.
Lexington and 42nd is fun, and entertaining. I liked that it took them time before they jumped into a 'relationship', probably because the heroine was avoiding complications, with them working together and all, but I liked that it that way. The sexual tension between them was brewing for the first several chapters and that added to the 'chase' element.
Reading through the book, I felt that it does go around in circles though and not much 'punch', so to speak. Their issue, if you can call it that, was easily resolved in just a few pages. For a woman who handles the players and the issues and events within the team, she was pretty stubborn and contrary when it came to her own life and her own issues.
Nevertheless, it was a good book. Still, the build from the start left me hanging and a bit disappointed with the way it ended.
Did I enjoy it? Yes.
Would I read it again? Sure.
I do love my sports romances, and I guess I just wasn't that satisfied.

Lexington and 42nd The Off Field Series Kim L Carmody 9780994518903 Books Reviews
This book was really great! I loved Emma and Will together. Their chemistry was great from the very first time that they meet. I loved watching Will come out of his comfort zone to chase Emma when he is so used to playing the field and having woman fall at his feet. Emma holds out on Will and fights her attraction to him for quite some time because she does not want to lose her job. I loved the angst that was thrown in mid story. That was so well done and I was hanging on every word throughout this entire book. I don't want to give too much away but I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves a good sexy romance with a good amount of chase and angst. I didn't love the cover (yep I am one of those judge the book initially by its cover types) but if you are like me don't let it deter you. This was a really great and sexy sports romance. Also, I felt like, although I get it, the title was not great. This certainly doesn't take away from the story but just thought I would mention it.
This was fun, sweet and sexy. I enjoyed the light-heartedness of the writing, the incessant banter between the characters and the sweet slow-burn love story between Will and Emma.
The characters were really likeable.
Even though I didn't always see eye to eye with Emma's decisions and behavior, she made me laugh out loud several times, and I found her to have a very pleasant voice.
Will probably ranks among my top 5 favorite alpha heroes ever, he was so awesome. I loved that Kim Carmody didn't create one of those interchangeable alpha douches, but made him wonderfully approachable and realistic. He wasn't always in control of every situation, he was scared of spiders and sometimes didn't have the right words to say, he was sweet and considerate, but incredibly flirty and sexy. Anyone who enjoys a determined hero chasing after the heroine without being too pushy about it will get their money's worth with this book.
I loved Emma's friends and colleagues, though I wish there would've been a little more on Will's team mates. Buck was pretty cool and I hope the next installment will be about him.
I wouldn't exactly label this book low-angst due to a lot of push and pull behavior on Emma's part, but the light and easy atmosphere made it totally bearable.
This may not be a literary masterpiece, but if you're looking for something cheerful, something that will make you laugh and swoon and feel good, you should give Lexington and 42nd a shot.
A great debut!

I absolutely LOVED LEXINGTON AND 42nd!!!
I just heard about this book a couple of days ago, read a snippet of the excerpt on , bought it, and immediately dove right in! It's been on my mind constantly since I started, and I didn't want to stop reading any time that I picked it up---if only I didn't have to sleep or go to work, I would've finished it in one sitting!
I absolutely LOVED Will, and I really enjoyed Emma's perspective. She made a few decisions that I definitely wouldn't have done, but I liked that she stood up for herself, and didn't just blindly jump into things. I could've done with a bit more communication at times, but overall, I really enjoyed this story, and I definitely recommend it to other sports romance fans---Will is one seriously sexy quarterback! He was seriously sweet, yet also passionate and possessive at just the right moments. There was the perfect amount of tension between Emma and Will, and their chemistry was fantastic! They had a really great rapport between them, and I loved that they joked with each other! It was perfect and had me chuckling many times! D
I definitely recommend this one! It's a recent favourite of mine, and I can't wait to read Kim Carmody's next book, MEET ME HALFWAY! It just came out this week and I'm extremely excited to read it! D
