Interesting and engaging characters come to life in this smoothly written story about 2 male teens that got stuck with an unfortunate abusive beginning and A family that takes them in as their own. Loving Both unconditionally, the boys began to heal. I appreciate that the abuse issues were spoken of but did not go into graphic detail. There was a small amount of sexual content, some of it somewhat graphic but soft. Easily skip without interfering with the story. I really enjoyed Kyra's writing abilities and hope their is a sequel. I would be interested in knowing where the story goes from where this book ended. Does this family take in the rest of the children that survived this horrible institution that claimed these innocent children's childhood?Tags : Butterfly (Forgotten Children Book 1) - Kindle edition by Kyra Gregory. Butterfly Forgotten Children Book 1 edition by Kyra Gregory Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I usually like more action, but this book held my attention. I usually don't like stories that include same sex liaisons, but this is a story of sweet romance rather than eroticism. Can't wait to read Book 2.
I had a hard time reading this book. At some places I thought I might have been written in another language and translated to English. One chapter near the end didn't make sense. But I thought the characters were well developed -- but the situation was never really explained.
The story is simply amazing, character-driven, and gosh the characters are really well depicted. Emotions are there, seriousness is there but the whole story is light and easy to read. The smoothness of reading is probably one of Kyra Gregory's trademark, in my opinion.
About the characters, I got really quickly attached to the two main, to their history, to their relationship, to the way they evolve throug the entire book.
In short, a must read!
Not worth opening the first page. The grammar was atrocious. Apparently the author does not know that a preposition is always followed by the objective case. And she should learn to use the subjunctive correctly. But the worst was when she felt it was necessary to describe how many fingers teenager was able to fit into behond of another teenager. How did this contribute to the story? Overall the storyline was totally unreal.
First of all I rarely read books (so I never wrote a review before) and if I do I usually stop reading halfway because the story gets boring to me.
However it's not the case with this story. Through the whole story it makes you want to find out more about the characters.
Theres some really recognizable dilemmas and emotions, which makes it more fun to read as you can really empathize with the characters.
I love realistic stories and thats why I really enjoyed this story.
It's written in a fun, fresh and easy to read way even for people who rarely read like me.
Please support young writers by buying their books, it's really worth it!
It was confusing to me when the author would refer to one of the characters as, "the boy" or "the man" and then in the next sentence would call them by their names.
I did not realize this book had intimate details of homosexual lovemaking. I was taken aback but pushed through it feeling all the more enlightened for doing so. I did not care for the authors pronoun use but besides these two things found this story to be moving.
